Gas prices continue their trend downward. In at least one Arizona county they are below the national average.

The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded the city of Phoenix $25 million to build a bike and pedestrian bridge over the Salt River, connecting south Phoenix to downtown.

Phoenix is offering a new benefit for qualified workers at Sky Harbor Airport. Applications are being accepted for a child care scholarship program.

Gas prices continue to fall in the state and around the country. Arizona is averaging at about $4.37 per gallon.

The Maricopa Association of Governments, known as MAG, is meeting Wednesday to address a potential funding deficit for transportation projects. That’s because earlier this month, Gov. Doug Ducey vetoed a bill that would have given Maricopa County voters the chance to extend a half-penny transportation tax that expires in 2025.

The Mexican government has restarted construction on a contested railroad project that had run into legal hurdles. Known as the Maya train, the railway has now been designated as a national security matter in order to continue work on the project.

An on-demand ride service called Chandler Flex is launching in the city July 12. It’s an on-demand ride service that’s running mostly in the southwestern part of the city.

California is restricting state-funded travel to Arizona after Gov. Doug Ducey signed what he called “common sense” legislation. But in a news release California Attorney General Rob Bonta called it discriminatory.
