Carmen Marquez is a bilingual journalist and producer. Prior to joining KJZZ, Marquez was an anchor/producer for Telemundo Yuma-El Centro, and then transitioned into Radio Campesina, a Spanish radio network. There, she reported national issues surrounding immigrant communities mainly in Washington, California, Nevada and Arizona. Marquez also hosted the talk show “Point of View,” focusing on issues affecting Spanish-speaking immigrants such as worker rights, health and immigration. She has covered both domestic and international stories in Mexico and the United States.
Marquez was born in Yuma, and at age 10 moved with her family to the state of Michoacan, Mexico. Growing up in Mexico, she was surrounded by protests and political oppression — which sparked her interest in local politics and government.
Marquez hosts “Talking Latino,” a weekly live interview show on Instagram featuring Latinos creating spaces on different platforms around the country.
In her spare time, you can find her looking for coffee.
