Phoenix Temperatures Could Reach Triple Digits This Week

For the first time in 2018, we could experience triple digit highs in the Valley this week. James Sawtelle is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Phoenix. He said we’ll see a continued warming trend that began over the weekend.

"On Tuesday, we’re going for a high of 98 and on Wednesday 99," Sawtelle said. "That’s so close to 100 that you can’t rule it out.”

Sawtelle said it will get breezy and windy on Thursday and the temperatures will start to cool back down.

Easley's Fun Shop Plans To Close After 72 Years

Easley’s Fun Shop has served the Phoenix area for 72 years, but the business will close its doors for the last time at the end of this year.

Easley’s has been the go-to shop for magic tricks, gag gifts and costumes for decades. It was started as a magic shop by Bert Easley, a vaudeville magician, in 1947 and expanded its inventory about 30 years ago. The business is now run by Bert’s great granddaughter, Samantha Herrera. She said Easley’s has become a family tradition for some people.

ADOT Reopens Three Highways To Lakes In White Mountains

The Arizona Department of Transportation will reopen three state highways to lakes in the White Mountains this week. Garin Groff is a spokesman for ADOT. He said the routes should reopen on Thursday.

"Two of the highways lead to Big Lake," Groff said. "They are 261 from Eagar to Big Lake and 273 from Sunrise Park to Big Lake. Also 473 will open from State Route 260 to Hawley Lake.”

Groff said those highways close every winter because the parks at the end of them are closed during the cold season. He said it’s typical for them to reopen during this time of year.
