The Arizona Game and Fish Department said there could be problems with nuisance bears in southern Arizona once again this year. Spokesman Mark Hart said they have had their first sighting of a bear in the Sierra Vista area, a place where bears became a problem last year.

Jan Brewer signed the Medicaid expansion plan into law, opponents are starting to collect signatures to put it on the ballot.They will start canvasing Saturday afternoon, and if they can collect 86,405 valid signatuers by September 11, the law will be put on hold, pending the November, 2014 election.

Helicopters are flying over the nearly 250 acres scorched by the Doce Wildfire about seven miles northwest Prescott, just like they were last month. But the choppers are not there to make water drops to quell the blaze, they are spreading seed and mulch in an effort to restore the area that was charred.

through the Valley. He is the chief engineer and general manager of the
Flood Control District of Maricopa County and said the water goes where
it is has always gone, through county’s river systems, before draining
out towards the Colorado River.

Secretary Sally Jewell has signed the last of four American Indian water rights
settlements approved by President Obama in 2010. The deal signed
Tuesday will fund a water delivery system for the White Mountain Apache Tribe
