If you drive the Loop 101 Pima Freeway north of the Red Mountain part of the Loop 202 very often, you know traffic many times becomes bogged down there. There is relief on the way. But, just like a freeway back-up, it is going to take a while.
Debate continues this week in Washington over the 2013 Farm bill. One of
the amendments being considered would eliminate a loophole in the current
federal animal fighting law. Wayne Pacelle of the Humane Society is a strong
supporter of the amendment, saying along with Arizona's 1998 ban on
cockfighting, it would "eradicate illegal animal fighting once and for
all" in the state.
The New York
man who has been indicted for threatening to kill two CNN anchors has allegedly
confessed to tweeting about the plots to kill Jane Valez-Mitchell and Nancy
Grace. Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio says David Simpson's car had been
packed with guns, zip ties and a knife, and he was ready to leave New York for Georgia.
A box of items donated to the Kiwanis Club in Carefree became
a problem Saturday, when a grenade was found inside. The donation was brought
to a fire station and Sheriff's Office spokesman Chris Hegstrom says deputies
took it from there.
Valley bus drivers and the Valley Metro System
management team continue labor negotiations through Wednesday.The two groups have
been in talks this entire month. The
temporary contract bus drivers have been working with expires Wednesday.

State health officials said the number of abortions performed in Arizona was down 7 percent from 2011 to 2012. The annual report from the Department of Health Services said 13,340 elective abortions were reported last year.

Corporation, but it will cost the new American one slot at London's
Environmental Protection Agency has been hit with a lawsuit over claims it is failing to protect children from
crop-dusting pesticide drift. Linda Wells of the Pesticide Action Network says
the suit is an effort to get the EPA to re-evaluate the potential harm to kids,
especially in rural America.

Despite years of
using private aircraft to fight forest fires, the Forest Service and Interior
