Steve Nash may have to pay additional child support to his ex-wife. Arizona law has
guidelines for child support. Under them, Nash owed about $2,800 a month to his

A state corrections officer is continuing her recovery after
being beaten by two inmates at the state prison complex in Winslow, a week ago.
Department of Corrections spokesman Bill Lamoreaux says the incident took place
in the Kaibab unit of the prison.

infamous orca responsile for three deaths while in captivity at Sea World,
opened in limited release this weekend.
The film looks at the death of a Sea World trainer in 2010 and shows

President Obama came to town this week mainly to talk about housing and the economy, but near the end of his speech, he gave Phoenix a shout-out for its work in another area. “Here in Phoenix, thanks to the hard work of everyone from Mayor Stanton to the local United Way to US Airways, you’re on track to end chronic homelessness for veterans by 2014,” President Obama said.

Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne is suing the Justice
Department to allow Arizona
to participate in a program that brings quicker action on appeals by death row
inmates. Horne says Arizona
followed Bush-era rules that shaved about 10 years off the average delay, but
that President Barack Obama scrapped them and has yet to draft new ones.
