Susie Steckner, author of Cactus League: Spring Training, talks about the history of the Cactus League and what spring training means to Arizona.

Steckner says spring training has evolved a lot during the past 55 years, but one constant is that it’s always been about the fans. Steckner says that the Cactus League has gone through several close calls with teams considering leaving, but spring training is so important to Arizona’s identity that the state has always made it a priority to keep spring training.
