Scottsdale residents are dealing with noise issues from Sky Harbor Airport. And on Tuesday night, the Scottsdale City Council unanimously authorized the mayor to submit comments and recommendations to the FAA.

Last month, the FAA held workshops to address questions and concerns about jet noise that still plague parts of the Valley.

It’s also accepting written comments about flight paths through Thursday, May 23. Scottsdale has been dealing with noise issues since the FAA implemented its NextGen program in 2014.

The city has delivered several letters to the FAA citing issues like increased noise and physical vibrations of residences.

Upon approval this evening, Scottsdale will ask the FAA to modify departure routes out of Sky Harbor to fly east of the city.
