A fan submitted an application to the Governor’s Office, recommending that Corritore be honored for his work as a musician and national recording artist, and for his efforts to preserve and promote the blues.

"I am amazed to be recognized by such a high authority in state government for the work that I do, which is certainly off the beaten path and away from the mainstream,” said Corritore.

He received the certificate of recognition as a surprise gift during the 20th anniversary celebration of the Rhythm Room.

“My work is my play and I'm always amazed by how many people it touches," said Corritore, who is celebrating 27 years of the blues on KJZZ.

Join him this Sunday at 6 p.m. for a dose of Those Lowdown Blues.
