Thanks to funds from Proposition 104, also known as T-2050, and an advancement of $200 million from the City Council, the city of Phoenix will triple the number of streets that’ll be paved over the next five years.

The city is set to tackle several roadways that are in pretty bad condition, says Kini Knudson, director of street transportation with the City of Phoenix. Knudson says the city is looking at several major roadways that crisscross Phoenix.

"Bell Road, it’s Broadway Road, Cave Creek Road, Glendale Avenue, McDowell Road, Seventh Avenue, Thunderbird Road, 19th Avenue, 67th Avenue, 43rd Avenue. Those are just some of the ones we’re looking at doing paving work on," Knudson said.

He says typically the city paves about 16 miles a year, but because the City Council gave the OK to spend more, Knudson says they’re tackling about 50 miles a year.
