An Illinois company owned in part by Coca-Cola is planning to expand its footprint to Arizona.

The company, called fairlife, plans to build a new production facility in Goodyear to build their West Coast market.

Fairlife beverages are made using a type of filtered milk with more protein and less sugar

Fairlife will work with the United Dairymen of Arizona to source milk from local dairies.

Fairlife Chief Operating Officer Tim Doelman said even though the dairy market is down, he thinks this facility will be successful in the long run.

“And that’s one reason why, again, we chose this Arizona location is, we thought we were dealing with a real good group of farmers that could be successful in the long term," he said. "And their success really allows us to be successful, also.”

The plan will be to hire about 140 people locally.

“In looking out West, there were a lot of great opportunities to consider. But Arizona really turned out to be a great location, we found a great group of dairy farmers there,” Doelman said.

The facility is expected to be up and running by late 2020.
