Phoenix Murphy Elementary School District Board Discusses Administrative Options In Latest Board Meeting
The governing board for the Murphy Elementary School District, which is under receivership, met this week to discuss the fate of one of its administrators.
One of its schools, Sullivan Elementary, is being run by an acting principal because the current principal is on at-home assignment, but the board refused to make that person the official interim principal last month.
The board held a special informational meeting in executive session the week before and no decision was made then.
Board member Ruby Torres called the vote on whether to decide on the principal’s employment after an hour-long executive session.
The board voted three-to-one to table the decision for another meeting.
The board also voted to refinance several bonds, hoping to save the district up to almost $200,000.
