Hazardous Downed Powerlines in Paradise

As a part of a mutual assistance agreement with utilities across the country, APS has responded to natural disasters in the past in places like Puerto Rico and New York. The crews heading for Paradise will leave from the APS Deer Valley location.

Annie DeGraw with APS said workers will do all they can to help once they arrive.

"On the ground right now, the devastation in Paradise is pretty total," DeGraw said. "And what they'll be doing is helping to get lines and poles put back in place. We can't say until we have boots on the ground whether that means we'll be turning the lights back on, but really it's helping rebuild the backbone of the community."

DeGraw said a second crew will leave for California Dec. 1, and is expected to stay for three to four weeks.
