Stewart Lee Udall, Secretary of the Interior, 1961-69.

The Udall name is synonymous with the Southwestern U.S. — including Arizona — and the environment.

Part of that was influenced by Stewart Udall’s tenure as the nation’s interior secretary in the Kennedy and Johnson administrations. In the course of that time, he was a leader when it came to national parks and trails and early versions of the Endangered Species Act.

Author Scott Einberger wrote about Udall’s impact on environmental policy in his book, "Stewart Udall: With Distance in His Eyes," and joined The Show to talk about it.
