KJZZ hosted a panel of the Phoenix mayoral candidates on Thursday at Rio Salado’s campus.

The four candidates vying for the open seat include former Phoenix city council members Kate Gallego and Daniel Valenzuela, both Democrats; Republican Moses Sanchez and Libertarian Nicholas Sarwark. KJZZ’s Mark Brodie moderated the panel.

They began by talking about the city’s growth. Phoenix is now the fifth largest city in the country, so how do the candidates view the city’s role as a leader in the region?
