Arizona newest U.S. senator is actually one who served for three full terms. Sen. Jon Kyl moved from the House to the U.S. Senate after winning the 1994 election, and he retired at the end of 2012.

He had been working as an attorney and lobbyist and was preparing to retire completely this year — until Gov. Doug Ducey called and asked him to be the interim replacement for the late Sen. John McCain.

Kyl’s areas of expertise are considered water and intelligence, and he also was on the Senate Judiciary Committee for nearly 18 years.

In a recent interview with The Show, Kyl discussed — among other things — his role as the Senate guide for U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
