The Pima County Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to approve a bond ordinance for regional road construction, preservation and repair.

Approval of the ordinance means the measure will move to the fall ballot for voters to decide whether Pima County will float a $430 million bond for road projects.

Ana Olivares, Pima County Transportation Department director, said if the bond is approved, “We’re hoping to be able do some work in Pima County immediately, like the Spring of 2019. For the municipalities and the towns, we need to first establish the intergovernmental agreements. Those can’t be approved of course until we know whether the bond passes or not in November.”

Cities and towns will submit their requests for road projects to be prioritized by the Transportation Advisory Committee before final approval by the Board of Supervisors.
