A meeting Monday is aimed at trying to solve issues between the Islamic Center of Tucson and a nearby apartment complex. Both are located near the University of Arizona campus.

In recent weeks there have been incidents of bottles being thrown at the center from the apartments above.

Tucson City Councilman Steve Kozachik has scheduled the meeting to discuss problems the city has had with the apartment towers.  

“There are two major incidents that I want to focus on. Number one of course is the drunk little frat boys pelting the mosque with beer bottles from six stories up. The second major focus will be, [the apartment complex has] an outdoor sound stage that nobody knew about until they opened and started having outdoor concerts that were going until all hours of the night," Kozachik said.

Kozachik originally got involved because of the noise issues he had heard about in meetings leading up to the UA homecoming weekend.

"Immediately after that homecoming weekend, that's when I learned about the mosque thing. That's when I said 'OK, all bets are off. We're going to fix this,'" he said.

The meeting will be attended by city officials, representatives from the UA, representatives from the mosque and the owners of the apartment complex.
