As we head toward Arizona’s August primary elections, KJZZ's The Show is inviting the candidates in contested races to talk about why they’re running and some of the key issues in their contests.

Democratic candidate Joan Greene is running in District 5 against Jose Torres in the upcoming primary, and she’s hoping to unseat incumbent Republican Andy Biggs in the fall.

The first-time candidate owns a marketing business and has made progressive issues like single-payer health care and debt-free higher education campaign points. The political newcomer says she thinks she’s going to be one of the unconventional candidates running this year to break through, even in the heavily Republican district where she’s running.
