With less than two months remaining until Arizona’s primary election, a new survey of Democratic voters shows some surprising results in the state’s gubernatorial race.

Forty nine percent of likely Democratic voters remain undecided in selecting a Democratic candidate for governor, according to George Khalaf, president of Data Orbital which conducted the poll.

He said it’s difficult to discern whether the impact of progressive voters is responsible for the trend. “It could also be neither of the top two candidates have raised enough money to truly message to their voters and even though as politicos we view Election Day like it’s happening tomorrow, a lot of voters are not as dialed in.”

Khalaf added that despite recent news focusing on migrant detentions and protests, education remains the top issue for Democratic voters in Arizona by a wide margin.
