A brush fire near Snowflake that closed two highways is now 55 percent contained.

The human-caused fire burned almost 5,000 acres since Monday, forced evacuations and closed State Route 277 and 377.

State Route 277 is now open and fire fighting efforts are ramping down. There are about 280 emergency personnel in the area, down from almost four hundred earlier this week.
