Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey came by our studios yesterday to discuss this week's news surrounding Uber's crash report as well as his Safe Arizona Schools Plan.

Firstly, we talked about the future of Uber in Arizona.

The National Transportation Safety Board yesterday released its preliminary report on the fatal crash earlier this year of Uber's autonomous vehicle in Tempe. After that incident, Gov. Doug Ducey suspended Uber’s ability to test its driver-less cars here. Later, Uber announced earlier this week it was shutting down its autonomous vehicle testing program in Arizona.

We asked Gov. Ducey if he’d had any conversations with Uber officials before they made their decision to leave public, or if he’s spoken with them since.

Then, we discussed school safety.

After the shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida earlier this year, Ducey unveiled his Safe Arizona Schools Plan. The state senate approved a watered-down version of the measure, but the house never took it up. After the school shooting in Santa Fe, Texas, legislative Democrats called on the governor to convene a special session to again look at the issue.

We asked the governor, given what lawmakers did and did not support, if there is anything in his plan he may be willing to change to get it through the legislature.
