The Arizona State Board for Charter Schools this week approved requests by BASIS Charter Schools to expand in Flagstaff and Mesa.

The unanimous vote came after some board members questioned school officials about requesting donations from parents to supplement teachers’ salaries and using Arizona tax money as collateral to finance out-of-state expansion.

The Show this week heard from Craig Harris of the Arizona Republic, who’s looked into BASIS.

DeAnna Rowe, BASIS Charter School’s executive director, also talked to The Show about the BASIS' plans.
