Arizona Animal Shelter Recommends A Healthy Diet For Pets
Americans often set new weight loss goals around seasons like this New Year’s Day. But what about our pets?
Michael Morefield is with the Arizona Animal Welfare League. He said just like humans, a healthy diet can make a real difference in an animal’s life.
“Obese animals can have shorter lifespans, it can hurt their joints, it can cause medical issues down the road," Morefield said. "So if you just take some simple tips and guidelines, you can spend even more years with your pet you know hopefully mitigating some of those health risks.”
Morefield said finding the right food for your pet is especially important. For example, cats need a lot of protein in their diet, so look for foods with protein as a main ingredient, instead of a filler.
