While parts of the east are covered in snow, Northern Arizona missed out on a white Christmas and there is no significant precipitation forecast in the near future.

A U.S. Forest Service official described the conditions in the state’s northern forests as “super dry." And if the lack of snowfall continues, scientists say there will likely be more far-reaching effects on the region's ponderosa pine trees.
