The recent shocking announcement by U.S. Sen. Jeff Flake that he won't be seeking re-election in the U.S. Senate has potential GOP successors scrambling to get on the primary ballot.

According to the results of a new Republican ballot test, and with a little under a year left until primary election day, GOP voters are still uncertain about who they will be voting for, according to George Khalaf, president of Data Orbital, a data analysis and political consulting firm based in Phoenix.

“Kelli Ward is the only declared candidate. It’s pretty telling that she’s still only in the mid-20s even though she has much more name ID than the rest, and she actually had fairly favorable ratings and yet was only garnering 25 percent of the primary ballot test,” said Khalaf, who also stated President Trump remains popular with GOP voters in Arizona.

“The vast majority of people that support Kelli Ward are fairly favorable to President Trump. Seventy-one percent of the broader GOP electorate, in the primary at least, seems favorable to President Trump," he said.

The poll, which has a margin of error of 4.4 percentage points, shows 28 percent of GOP voters are undecided on a candidate to replace Flake.
