Arizona Storytellers: Fatimah Halim

KJZZ partners with the Arizona Republic to bring you the Arizona Storytellers series. We record the live events and share them with you on the radio. In Phoenix, the storytellers sometimes share stories about our community or the life events that have shaped them in general. Megan Finnerty is the creator of the series.
Fatimah Halim grew up in Harlem, New York. And she says her mother was well known as Mama Dorothy. And Mama Dorothy took in extra kids all the time. She wasn’t a foster parent — she just wanted to make sure every child was cared for and had a place to live. Many people idolized Mama Dorothy for her unselfish attitude. Halim wanted to be like her.
Fatimah Halim is the CEO of the nonprofit Life Paradigms, Incorporated.
The next storytelling event is July 12, 2017, at The Phoenix Theatre.
