The Grand Canyon Lodge - North Rim is one of many services that will reopen May 15. Originally, the opening for lodges was going to be delayed because of damage to a pipeline. But repairs were finished ahead of schedule.

Repairs to a water pipeline at the Grand Canyon’s North Rim are done ahead of schedule, which means campgrounds and lodging will reopen as originally planned.

The North Rim will once again welcome visitors at 7:30 a.m. on Monday.

This comes after park maintenance crews replaced nearly 400 feet of pipeline that was found damaged or missing, due to rock slides caused by heavy winter storms. It was the worst damage to the pipeline in more than 20 years.

Originally, reservations between mid and late May were cancelled at the historic Grand Canyon Lodge – North Rim. But now, the operator of the lodge, Forever Resorts, says it will allow people to restore their bookings.

The North Kaibab Trail has also been repaired and is open, but hikers may experience brief delays as trail crews continue working.
