Public policy at the highest levels of the federal government — and in many state governments — is often determined, at least in part, by economists.
They look at numbers from prior years and cycles, and try to project what’s next and what could happen if a particular policy is implemented.
In a recent column, Neil Irwin of The New York Times asked the question “What if sociologists had as much influence as economists?”
