Meteorologist Discusses Monday's Storm
On Monday, the official gauge at Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix recorded record amounts of rainfall, but not just for September 8. It was the most rain the city had received in any one day with 3.29 inches, beating the 2.91 inches that fell on September 4, 1939.
We knew that rain was supposed to hit the area, because of the former hurricane Norbert. But was it supposed to be this much? And wasn’t it supposed to arrive on Saturday or Sunday? To help us figure that out, we spoke with Gary Woodall, the meteorologist in charge of the National Weather Service’s Phoenix office.
