An immigrant-rights group has concerns following the arrest of a so-called Dreamer in Seattle.

Korina Iribe with the Arizona Dream Act Coalition says federal agents should respect the protection given to immigrants brought to the U.S. as children. She says the Seattle case seems isolated, but Arizona Dreamers should still be prepared.

“We’re letting the community, including Dreamers, know how they can be prepared if they are stopped by police, if they are stopped by ICE, if they’re detained — what is the response and what are the actions they need to take to make sure it’s not escalated,” Iribe said.

One suggestion is to have proof of protection under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals at all times.

Iribe says if federal agents show up without a warrant, they don’t have the right to enter. Immigrants should keep an attorney’s number handy.  Iribe insists even undocumented immigrants have rights.
