Arizona Advocacy Group Meets With Sen. Flake Staff
Officials with the group Indivisible Southern Arizona secured a meeting with Senator Jeff Flake’s staff Friday. They will be asking for an in-person meeting with the senator and demanding that he take action against President Donald Trump’s recent travel ban.
Kristen Randall is a coordinator with the group. She said her colleagues are asking that Flake filibuster any cabinet, bill or Supreme Court appointment until the ban is rescinded.
Randall added that she’s optimistic about this afternoon’s discussion with Flake’s staff.
"They’ve been very helpful listening to us. We have told them that this is what we’re going to be asking for and they haven’t shut us down," Randall said. "They have reminded us that Senator Flake has come out and publicly denounced this ban."
In addition to the meeting, supporters of the group are demonstrating on the sidewalk outside of Flake’s Tucson office Friday afternoon Friday.
