Brenna Goth shares a story about living south of the border for her first reporting job and learning some valuable lessons about problem solving and choosing rentals off of Craigslist.

KJZZ is partnering with the Arizona Republic to bring you the Arizona Storytellers project on the radio. Storytellers in Phoenix share their stories at live events in town. Some of the stories are about living here, some are not.

Several years ago, Brenna Goth graduated from the University of Arizona and moved outside Mexico City for her first job as a journalist.

Her first apartment was in a small, sleepy town, far from the city center.

Goth had trouble connecting so she decided to find a place in the heart of the Capitol. She found a small, dingy place with no windows on Craigslist.

Brenna Goth is a reporter at the Arizona Republic.

The next storytelling event is Jan. 31, 2017, at South Mountain Community College.
