Two dogs abandoned in desert

Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies have rescued two domesticated dogs that had been abandoned in the desert, east of Phoenix. Sheriff Joe Arpaio says a woman spotted the dogs while she was on horseback and led deputies to them.

“We have a chip in one of the dogs so I think we can solve this case very soon, to see if the owners purposely left these dogs in the desert,” Arpaio said.

Arpaio says the dogs will be well cared for by female inmates, and eventually put up for adoption.
