In 2004, an underdog team of four students from the Valley’s Carl Hayden High School overcame some big odds.

Filmmaker Mary Mazzio’s new documentary, “Underwater Dreams,” tells the story of the students then, but also catches up with them now and explores their continuing influence.

We spoke to Mazzio and asked what inspired her to make the film.
