Harriet Cole tells a personal story at the first showing of "Love and Heartbreak" by Arizona Storytellers Project at First Draft Book Bar, in Phoenix Ariz. on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016

KJZZ partners with the Arizona Republic to bring you the Arizona Storytellers series. We record the live events and share them with you on the radio. In Phoenix, the storytellers sometimes share stories about our community or the life events that have shaped them in general. Megan Finnerty is the creator of the series.

When Harriet Cole was 30 years old, she was dating a kind, handsome man. But Cole had trouble convincing her boyfriend to go skiing with her. So she decided to get involved in his hobbies. Every summer Cole’s boyfriend coached a woman’s softball team called the Ditch Witches. Cole knew nothing about softball, but decided she didn’t want to be out done all of the single women on the team. Cole struggled to swing a bat without closing her eyes.

Harriet Cole is a mentor and professional storyteller living in Phoenix.

The next storytelling event is May 18, 2016, at the Rebel Lounge in Phoenix.
