The Peoria Unified School District governing board has had its share of controversy this year dealing with religion. The district’s lawyers had to advise two board members that they should stop quoting Bible verses during meetings; they both eventually stopped, although one has since resigned.

It’s in that context that my next guest looked into how often religious language was being used at the district’s governing board meetings.

Joseph Darius Jaafari, editor-in-chief of Lookout Phoenix, looked into how often religious language was being used at the district’s governing board meetings. Lookout is a nonprofit LGBTQ+ news outlet in Phoenix.

Jaafari talked more about what he found with The Show.
