Gas prices in Arizona have jumped 20 cents in the past week. The statewide average for a gallon of regular unleaded gas is up to $4.19, which is 31 cents above the national average.

John Treanor with AAA said gas is plentiful, but extreme summer weather is impacting refineries.

“Despite low demand and the price of oil falling several dollars per barrel, there's potential for hurricane development and forecasts of expanding heat dome over Texas and Oklahoma, and so oil producers are pushing prices higher,” Treanor said.

Treanor said Hurricane Hilary may cause prices to continue to fluctuate in the near future.

The hurricane is currently off the coast of Baja California and is expected to bring severe weather to Southern California this weekend.
