Ad targets AZ GOP congressmen in debt ceiling fight
A pair of GOP congressmen from Arizona are among lawmakers being targeted with digital ads warning that Social Security checks could be on the line if the U.S. defaults on its debt.
The ads from the Retired Americans PAC are running online in five states, including Arizona. Here, the focus is on districts represented by Republican Congressmen David Schweikert and Juan Ciscomani.
One version of the ad warns that if U.S. doesn't pay its bills, Social Security checks could be delayed.
“But you can do something about it. Call Congress. Tell them to raise the U.S. debt limit to protect the 66 million Americans who depend on social security every month,” says the ad narrator.
Schweikert said last week on the House floor that the U.S. will never default on its debt.
The Retired Americans PAC is based in Washington, D.C., and not authorized by a political candidate.
