Gov. Katie Hobbs has vetoed two election-related bills.

One bill would have let representatives of both political parties challenge the decisions made by election workers over early ballot signature validation.

The other bill would have barred the current and future secretary of states from personally performing any aspect of election operations, if they are a candidate on that ballot.

Both bills passed the GOP-led Legislature, with the sponsors claiming their purpose is to build back confidence in elections.

Hobbs says the measures either create “unnecessary burdens" or have no reasonable justification for being written into law.

At this point Hobbs has vetoed a total of 86 measures.
