Phoenix expected to hit 100 degrees this weekend
The Phoenix area is expected to hit its first 100-degree day this year by this weekend.
"Temperatures will remain well above normal and then going into Saturday and Sunday is almost certain when things pick up," said Jessica Leffel, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service Phoenix. "Sunday is actually going to be the potential of reaching our first 100-degree day of the year. Right now we have a forecast high at 102 degrees."
Leffel added the hot weekend will be followed by a cold front, which may melt snow and cause flooding in higher elevations.
As dry, sunny weather continues, temperatures will warm to at least 10°F above normal through the weekend. By Sunday, readings will be flirting w/ record highs. If planning outdoor activities, hydrate properly and have plenty of sunscreen. #azwx #cawx pic.twitter.com/tCpqoGHone— NWS Phoenix (@NWSPhoenix) April 27, 2023
