Reporter/host for KJZZ's The Show

KJZZ 91.5 FM is looking for a reporter and fill-in host for Phoenix's daily public radio news magazine, The Show!

We want an experienced longform feature reporter with a strong set of investigative skills and an impeccable, professional on-air delivery that fits seamlessly into KJZZ's programs.

With the help of reporters and producers around the region and globe, the reporter/host will gather, write and produce segments with an ear toward serving the audience of the U.S.'s fifth largest city.

The reporter/host works with a team of producers and co-hosts to create and deliver live and recorded content.

This position works in person in Tempe to create content and host programming.

KJZZ's The Show is a stream of curated stories from Phoenix, the Southwest and around the country serving 300,000 listeners each week.

Essential functions

60% - Creates content including long form interviews and sound rich feature segments, conducts live and recorded interviews; rrites, edits and produces content.
30% - Live on-air hosting as fill-in or as needed for programs across dayparts; records interviews.
10% - Fundraising and public events.

Minimum qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in journalism, English, broadcasting, communication or a related field; and five years of on-air experience in journalism, news, multimedia and audio board operations in recorded and live situations that includes demonstrated experience through on-air portfolio within the last five years that shows an understanding of target audiences, continuity, broadcast technology, interviewing skills and well-written on-air news which includes two years of supervisory experience.

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired qualifications

1. Three years live hosting and anchoring experience with a personable on air presentation and strong, friendly delivery that fits seamlessly into programs.
2. Two years producing well-written, contextual news with sound.
3. Three years live broadcast experience with audio board use.
4. Two years of audio editing skills.
5. Portfolio of on air-work within the last five years that shows an understanding of target audiences, interviewing skills and well-written on-air news provided in any media format.
