Phoenix-based Nikola designs and makes zero-emission vehicle technologies and infrastructure.

The founder of Nikola Motor Company went on trial in New York this week on charges of fraud and securities fraud.

Trevor Milton is accused of misleading investors about his company’s technology and what its vehicles were able to do. Nikola, which is headquartered in Phoenix and has a production facility in Coolidge, makes electric and fuel-cell vehicles.

Jack Ewing is a business reporter for the New York Times and covers the auto industry.
