Scottsdale is launching a new program to recognize local military members by prominently displaying their photos in Old Town.
For two weeks in November, banners featuring photos of military members will fly from Scottsdale street light poles. Veterans, active duty and members of the National Guard and reserves who are from Scottsdale or live there are eligible.
Nominations are being accepted through September using a form on the city’s website. It asks for a photo, along with the military branch, dates of service, highest rank and description of service.
Seven residents who make up Scottsdale’s Veterans Advisory Commission came up with the idea as a way to publicly thank those who’ve served.
