Pinal County sending additional municipal ballots to fix error
Pinal County has a solution for voters who received incorrect municipal ballots in the mail.
The Pinal County Elections Department will send municipal ballots to voters in seven cities and towns who received early ballots that left out local races.
County Supervisors approved the solution on Tuesday to a problem they say was caused by human error.
About 63,000 ballots in Apache Junction, Queen Creek, Casa Grande, Eloy, Mammoth, Maricopa and Superior had an error that caused only county, state and federal races to be featured.
The department says early voters who had one of these ballots should complete it and return it as normal, then complete the new municipal only ballot and return that as well.
Robert Schroeder is a councilmember and candidate in Apache Junction. He says candidates and the county alike need to educate voters on the updated process.
“I think everyone needs to pitch in and do their share. If everybody who’s got an issue with this directed their efforts to the solution to this, we’ll have this thing whipped," Schroeder said.
