The Arizona Supreme Court has decided not to fast-track an appeal from Attorney General Mark Brnovich after a judge sided with Secretary of State Katie Hobbs over election rules.

The decision means there likely won’t be time for court battles to play out on Brnovich’s appeal, leaving counties to follow 2019 rules when running the upcoming general election.

Last month, a Yavapai County judge rejected Brnovich's effort to order Hobbs to rewrite a nearly 300-page manual that outlines election procedures

Instead of filing a formal appeal, Brnovich asked the state Supreme Court to allow him to bypass the process.

The top court said it considered Brnovich’s request and determined it did not meet the standards for expediting his appeal.
