The U.S. Postal Service is creating a new ZIP code in Tempe. The agency is citing rapid growth in the area.

The Postal Service announced the new addition of 85288 on Friday. It said that affected customers will be notified by mail.

In a statement, the Postal Service said the new ZIP code became necessary because of Tempe’s rapid growth. It also allows for the addition of new delivery routes and new addresses in the area.

The new ZIP code will go into effect July 1.
