No signs of Arizona gas prices dropping

Arizonans are paying about $5.08 for a gallon of gas on average. That is 32 cents more than the national average.

Maricopa County is paying well above that with an average at $5.43 per gallon.

Aldo Vazquez with AAA says the high prices of crude oil is leading to the surge.

“Nationwide crude oil has moved to above $150 per barrel. That’s mostly due to fears of a further global supply constraint that is caused by an E.U. ban on Russian oil exports," Vazquez said.

Vazquez added demand for gas could continue to go up, as people travel for the summer.
