The deadline to submit art proposals for new Pima County Office of Medical Examiner is approaching

The Arts Foundation for Tucson and Southern Arizona is combining efforts with Pima County to award a large public artwork stipend for the county’s new Office of the Medical Examiner.
Individual artists or teams must submit proposals by May 31.
Woods Fairchild with the Arts Foundation is the public art manager for the project and said it’s important to understand the main role of the office.
“They actually partner with other organizations in terms of their mission to honor lives lost in the Sonoran Desert borderlands and their families in identifying and returning remains for lives lost or gone unidentified due to migrant crossings,” said Fairchild.
The stipend for the project is $180,000 and must cover costs for design, materials, transportation and installation.
Fairchild said the art will be installed in the courtyard of the new building so it should be weather resistant.
