The ban on Russian oil imports last week has led to a rise in gas prices, with some areas hitting more than $5 a gallon.

According to AAA, Arizona’s average has reached $4.60 a gallon, more than 30 cents above the national average.

U.S. Sen. Mark Kelly has introduced a bill that would get rid of the 18 cent federal gas tax until the end of the year to reduce pressure on consumers.

“We gotta do our best to make sure that we can help the American people with the rise in gas prices and food prices," Kelly said.

The proposed bill would use money from the general fund to offset losses so road projects can continue. Though it has been moving slowly through the Legislature, the spike in prices has Kelly hopeful the measure will gain traction.
